Well, Might as well start off the SEO catagory with a little Wordpress SEO info.

Starting a blog is pretty easy. There isnt much to it really. All you need is a domain name, hosting and a free copy of Wordpress. Maybe I’ll cover those basics in another post.

First - Permalinks

This will place more keywords into the URL and remove garbage url, which make the URL look better to seach engine and people. As far as I’m concerned having keywords in your URL is an absolute must.

Don’t use %day%, %post_id% , %hour%, %minute% or even %second% in your permalink. None of these are helpful. Simple monthly archives are perfectly acceptable.

Here, I use /%year%/%postname%/ —- But I’m known for changing these things around from time to time, so dont irritate me 6 months from now when its a little different. I like to experiment.

Bonus tip: want to go really mad with your permalink SEO? Try dropping date tags all together for %category%! It does away with your neat date tags, though, so you could even try keeping %year% and %month%.

Second, when your setting up your blog, think about your catagory names a bit. They should be keywords or have keywords in them. Google and other Search engines look for keywords. Keywords are words that are commmonly searched for. For example, here I have a catagory called “Lincoln Mark VIII” - Not, MK 8 or Mark 8 - becuase those are less searched for terms. Google likes things like URLs, Title and Description Tags, and a few other things.
