Somebody, or enough people, probably figured out how to rip the reward structure enough for Google to loose money on the scheme. Either that, or there wasn't enough bottom line impact to be worthwhile keeping alive.

I'm not confident Google will tell us the real reason they dropped the bonuses anytime soon, but I somehow doubt it was to simply screw referrers.

Think of it as a special - they don't always last forever ;)</description>
