You may remember, the Living Room looked like this:
Now - Here is our progress so far...
The basement was this wonderful Red color...
And is now progressing nicely. Shawn and her Mom did most of the painting down here!
More plans for the basement include removing those posts, (which will involve inserting a steel beam) raising the knee wall to 42", oak trim and some nice carpeting.
A few 1st floor bedroom 'Before' photos
Now we have one bedroom done, and the second one drywalled. The Green/Blue bedroom had wallpaper that had been painted over. Interesting point is that the wallpaper appears to have been original to the house (circa 1926). We removed the wallpaper, repaired the plaster and painted. (see below)
The pic on the right above is the red bedroom from before. This bedroom was covered with paneling which had been glued and nailed. There were some large cracks in ths room as well, so we felt it was more economical to cover the walls with drywall, which is where we're at now.
In the kitchen, not much has been done - but we have all new appliances and a fresh coat of paint. Thanks to Dave's sister Tammy, I got these appliances for about half price. Thank you Tammy!
Upstairs, again, it was mostly painted red except for the green bedroom...
We have painted, but have some drywall work to finish. We are smoothing out the plaster where it makes sense and painting all the trim white. Down the road, I will strip the trim and doors and restore them to original oak stain.
My buddy Dave thought he would escape my camera... Nope.
Oh, and I have also started on the garage.
Ive insulated and covered the walls with OSB and built a good size workbench. I have a new window on order as well. We still have work to do inside including adding heating, more insulation, a new garage door and resurfacing the concrete. Its not organized yet as 90% of its use is for current projects. Eventually, this bench will have mostly automotive tools.
The plan is to move in next week, The basement wont be ready, but the rest should be. Future plans include installing a Deck and french doors from the kitchen as well as remodeling the kitchen and all 3 baths. I have a few paid helpers, and a few friends helping us as well. Its a big job, but so far, its been kinda fun to see the transformation.
Stay tuned!
